Moving forward in changing times

Changing Times

The changing economic and political landscape in 2016 does not appear to have disrupted the construction industry to the extent that it may have and during the second half of the year we have been able to consolidate our position within the renewable energy sector. We have secured our first commission for the design and detailing of an Anaerobic Digestion Plant to produce Green Gas on a new pioneering scheme at Sparsholt in Hampshire and also completed the design of a series of “type approved” foundations for small scale wind turbines for one of our long standing Clients that it is hoped will allow Wind Energy to remain competitive in the changing regulatory support framework. The construction of Alveston Wind Farm in South Gloucestershire is now underway with us supporting the developer as Principal Designer and Owners Engineer.

New Projects

We remain active in the residential, commercial, industrial and health sectors with recently secured appointments in and around Gloucestershire and further afield, including St Luke’s Medical Centre in Stroud, Gloucestershire Archives facility in The City Centre and a range of residential schemes including, The Podium at the iconic Eagle Tower in the centre of Cheltenham. Our Civil Engineers have also been supporting our clients to secure a series of planning approvals, including a large scale commercial development and refurbishment of an electrical retail showroom alongside the Old Cattle Market in Gloucester, a new multi storey residential development at the Docks in Gloucester, both using innovative schemes for flood protection/prevention.

Our structural engineers are also working on a series of residential conversions of agricultural buildings with local Architects and private Clients and we have been appointed as engineering consultants for the refurbishment and modernisation of the Historic Lygon Arms Hotel.

Training and Professional Development

As a part of our continued commitment to professional development and staff support we are developing our graduate training scheme for Engineers and are also initiating a new Apprenticeship to train and develop our own Technicians, which we aim to have in place by the thrid quater of this year.
