Bertram Place Bridge, Tyne and Weir

A restoration project involving the replacement of a pedestrian footbridge crossing the Tyne and Weir Metro system at Bertram Place, the dual constraints of keeping the line open and working within the footprint of the original structure lead to a modular design that could be delivered and assembled in a very short window of time, onto the existing abutments. The added complication of an adjacent large diameter gas main crossing the rail lines at this point was tackled by our construction planners as part of the brief.
